Isostatic Industries, Inc. TU line of steel-backed, PTFE-lined, self-lubricating bearings available in both inch and metric sizes.

APPLICATION

These were for a leading manufacturer of medical equipment using metric size powdered metal bronze bearings/bushings in moveable support arms.

PROBLEM/CHALLENGE

Isostatic had already been providing this customer with a metric powdered metal bronze bearing/bushing. The customer wanted to reduce the overall range and increase the load capacity of the movable arms at the same or lower cost than that of the powdered metal bearing/bushing.

SOLUTION

Isostatic offered the customer samples of the TU line of steel-backed, PTFE-lined, self-lubricating bearings in a metric size. The bearings offer an extremely thin wall construction, while increasing load capacity.

RESULT

The TU product samples performed well in prototype testing and were eventually utilized in production. The customer was able to meet their product redesign objectives with an existing supplier at a competitive price thus eliminating the time and expense of searching for and qualifying a new bearing supplier.
